My children had a great night! My oldest knew exactly where to go when he saw Pilot the Eagle sitting outside the event and ran right in. They had fun and begged to go back when we left. It was so nice to know they were not far away and well taken care of during our event.
Special Ops Child Watch · Service area
Serving Fort Washington, MD
About 15 minutes from Clinton via Branch Avenue (MD-5) north to I-495, then west to the Indian Head Highway (MD-210) exit and south into Fort Washington.
Fort Washington sits between Clinton and the Potomac River, most of it running along the Indian Head Highway corridor on MD-210. The Tantallon peninsula extends into the river, and between National Harbor to the north and Piscataway Park to the south, this is a community where military and federal government families have settled for decades. Joint Base Andrews is less than fifteen minutes up Branch Avenue, and the Pentagon is a straight shot up I-495. That concentration of active duty families, GS civilians, and military spouses navigating mandatory unit events is exactly the community Special Ops Child Watch was built to serve. When a coordinator at Andrews or Anacostia-Bolling books an event, a large share of the families arriving at sign-in live right here in Fort Washington.
Including Tantallon, Friendly, Swan Creek and the surrounding area.

Can Special Ops Child Watch staff an event at a venue in Fort Washington or near National Harbor?
Yes. SOCW travels to the event venue and brings everything needed to run on-site child watch, whether that is a hotel ballroom, a waterfront venue near the Potomac, or a community center on or off the installation. Contact them Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM Eastern, to confirm your venue and date, or submit a quote request online.
My unit's FRO is at Joint Base Andrews but the event venue is near Fort Washington. Who handles the child watch booking?
The event coordinator or FRO books directly with SOCW regardless of where they are stationed. SOCW follows the event, not the installation. Call during office hours or use the online quote request to get started.
Do Fort Washington parents need to travel to Clinton to register their child for an upcoming event?
No. Child registration is handled through SOCW's online process once the event coordinator has confirmed the booking. Parents receive registration details from the event organizer and complete everything ahead of the event date.
